The René Oltra campsite is located inside the Naturist Village. Access to the Naturist Village is regulated and managed by the town of Agde and not by the René Oltra campsite. A card sold at the entrance to the naturist village allows access to the Naturist Village.

Practical guide to prepare your arrival

The René Oltra Naturist Centre is located inside the restricted area of the Naturist Village.
Access to the campsite strictly requires an entry authorisation to the Naturist Village, materialised by an access card

1. Regulated and secure access 

Access to the Naturist Village of Cap d'Agde is regulated 365 days a year by the municipality.
Upon arrival, you must imperatively go through the Naturist Village Entry Service, which is the only authorised body to :
• control access,
• issue entry cards,
A personal access card, issued for the duration of your stay (or according to the type of subscription), is mandatory to move around and stay within the village and on the naturist beach.

2. Rules and spirit of the Naturist Village 

Access to the Naturist Village implies adherence to and strict respect of the internal regulations, based on the values of naturism :
• Practice of full nudity, in a spirit of respect and harmony with other naturists
• Respect for public decency and public order
• Preservation of quality of life : limitation of noise, respect of speed limits, no dogs allowed on the beach (prefectural decree)
• Respect for private property
• Strict prohibition of filming or photographing, in any form whatsoever
These rules, fines and sanctions, guarantee the safety, tranquillity and well-being of all.

3. How to access the Naturist Village to reach Camping René Oltra ? 

A - Arrival with reservation and pre-ordered card during the reservation 
(stays longer than 3 days – reservation made more than 35 days before arrival)
• You will receive an SMS 24h before your arrival with an access code
• At the village entrance : take the left lane, enter your code on the keypad, do not stop at the entry office.
• Enter the village directly : direction Camping René Oltra, 3rd exit at the first roundabout, and collect your card at the reception

B - Arrival with reservation without pre-ordered card 
• Present your booking confirmation at the entry office
• Buy your access card
• Then access the village and the campsite

Is the Naturist Village freely accessible ?
No.
The Naturist Village of Cap d'Agde is a regulated area. Access is controlled all year round and strictly requires an access card issued by the Entry Service.

Is Camping René Oltra located in the Naturist Village ?
Yes.

What happens if I have pre-ordered my card ?
24h before your arrival, you will receive an SMS with a unique access code.

What should I do if I did not receive the SMS with the code ?
In this case, simply go to the Naturist Village Entry Office with your reservation. The staff will guide you.

Can I enter and exit the Naturist Village freely ?
It depends on the type of card:

Naturism tempts you... No more hesitation ! To finish convincing you, here is a small anthology of the 12 most persistent prejudices, our answers and a small guide for new naturists!

Naturism feeds many fantasies and prejudices. Let's go over the main preconceived ideas surrounding this practice that attracts so much curiosity!

PREJUDICE NO. 1:
Naturists represent a tiny part of the population.
2 million French people practice naturism every year! From your baker to your boss, there are many more than you think! Except that, as the subject is difficult to discuss and prejudices are still too numerous, the practice remains hidden from those around them. Yet France is considered THE queen of naturism: indeed, many foreigners join our naturist areas every year because the country, a pioneer in the practice, offers a wide range of quality in this area.

PREJUDICE NO. 2:
It must be hot in the bushes!
Naturism has NOTHING to do with fornication. Nothing!
I have never really understood where this confusion comes from. Nudity and sexuality are not synonymous! Sexuality remains in the realm of what we keep to ourselves. Beware of shortcuts!

PREJUDICE NO. 3:
It's got to look all over the place!...
As surprising as it may seem, a naked body, but even more so 3,000 naked bodies at once, is not erotic. A sexy swimming costume is much more erotic than a body in its simple apparatus. What is attractive is the fact of suggesting one's femininity or virility by dressing up, by adorning one's body with artifice to sublimate it. One is less likely to stare in a naturist space than in a "textile" campsite, if only out of respect for the other person's nudity and because one is as vulnerable and naked as he or she is! In naturist areas, there are no ideas of seduction; you have not chosen to undress to show off or exhibit yourself, you have chosen to feel good, to get back to basics and, for a few days, to simplify your life, enjoy your freedom and live in harmony with nature.

PREJUDICE NO. 4:
This is not a place for children...
No, the atmosphere is very family-oriented. Having talked to many naturist parents, children have no problem with nudity. Look at them, they love to live naked and their clothes are something they try to get rid of by all means. So it's paradise for them there! Questions may arise in adolescence, when boys in particular start to have difficulties with their intimacy. In these cases, nobody will force them and their choice will be respected. Children of naturists do not fill the waiting rooms of shrinks.

PREJUDICE #5:
We have to be naked.
That's the whole point of the game! (Otherwise it's no fun!). Naturist centres want to keep this difference, which is their strength. Afterwards, no stress, it will be done at your own pace. Tolerance is accepted for "newcomers" to allow them to adapt to the environment and to remove their clothes when they feel ready!

PREJUDICE #6:
It's hippy sixty-eighty all the way!
Well, not so much! Of course, the basic values of naturism are respect for others, tolerance and living in harmony with nature. But, in naturist spaces, the majority of people are people like you and me, no more organic, vegan or yoga than others! 43% of naturists in France are under 30, living a life in line with their generation, no more, no less than elsewhere.

PREJUDICE #7:
#But what if I have an erection?
No risk!
Permanent nudity desexualises thoughts. Nudity becomes the norm in naturist places, so nothing exciting anymore!

PREJUDICE N°8 :
There are only hot girls!
There are hotties, yes! But there's everything! Mostly chicks and guys who feel good about themselves ! Whether they're short, fat, tall, skinny, cellulite, tattooed, redone, they've made the choice to be there because they've decided to go beyond diktats and live in complete freedom! We compare ourselves for the first two hours, until we realise that there is everything, that we all have faults, but that, in the end, all this has a lot of charm and that we don't care! Our humanity is not perfect and that's what makes it touching. And it's amazing to realise that it's the clothes we wear that create divisions, complexes, between us.

PREJUDICE #9:
It's dirty!
Because a naked body washed daily is dirtier than a swimming costume whose freshness is unknown! Naturism is, in essence, a psyche of hygiene! The toilets and showers are impeccably clean, over-cleaned, over-maintained. And the self-respecting naturist NEVER goes out without a pareo or a small towel under his arm to sit on! So, what else ?

PREJUDICE #10:
I'll never be able to take off the bottom!
Let's face it, it's the hardest. Much harder than the top! But after 3 hours of feeling like an asshole in your bikini bottoms in front of a horde of cool ass-nudes, you end up being tempted. And... we forget everything! Freedom! Because between us, swimming in the sea or taking a shower naked, under a light breeze, is priceless!

PREJUDICE N°11 :
It must be super roots!
Naturist areas are often quiet and unspoilt places. But this does not prevent them from offering all the services that one appreciates on holiday: open-air aquatic centre, mini-market, bar facing the sea, restaurant, thermal centre... These areas have been able to follow the evolution of society and adapt to the needs of holidaymakers, while preserving their values.

PREJUDICE N°12 :
But what if it's freezing?
Naturists are neither superhuman nor suicidal: when it's cold, they put their clothes on (yes, yes, I swear!).

Naturism is a way of living in harmony with nature, characterised by the practice of nudity in common, which has as a consequence to favour the respect of oneself, the respect of the others and the environment.

ECOLOGY & SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Our campsite enjoys an exceptional and rare setting, surrounded by natural areas. To the north and east is the Bagnas nature reserve (561 hectares) and to the south is the Mediterranean Sea, dunes and sand.
The sound of the birds in the nature reserve and the waves in the distance will lull your stay.
In its green setting, where Mediterranean trees and species have been planted for over 50 years, the campsite is home to a number of wild species such as migratory birds, little egrets, tawny owls, nightingales, hoopoes, lizards, bats and squirrels.
In winter, foxes, badgers and squirrels can be seen stealthily in the deserted alleys of the campsite.
You can see the Bagnas Nature Reserve from a wooden promontory at the extreme north-west of the campsite on the archery area (Allée O), you can observe the bird species through binoculars. Two hectares of greenery in a magnificent setting are at your disposal.

The campsite has installed a vegetable garden (access Bagnas alley O in the North West of the campsite), you can exchange plants, seeds, vegetables, fruits. It has a water reserve to accommodate the aquatic fauna near the Bagnas, as well as devices for insects (insect hotels and nesting boxes). Participatory workshops have been set up to build nests for bats, swallows, etc. Nature lovers, don't hesitate to visit the vegetable garden!

HERE ARE OUR ACTIONS

1 - Energy saving

– Use of low-energy light bulbs
– Lights on the campsite are set on a timer
– We switch off electrical appliances at the end of the day
– Insulation of the hydraulic network to avoid heat loss, green energy label in progress
– Use of electric carts
– Free Rosalies (pedal carts) are available on registration to move around the campsite.

2 - Water saving

– Installation of water pressure reducers; presto taps in the sanitary facilities (with push button) to limit water consumption, thus reducing water pressure.
– Watering of plantations in the evening to avoid water loss in full sun.
– Installation of timers for watering.

– Installation of an active oxygen device for anti-limescale treatments which limits water leaks.
– Electric car with charging point at the entrance of the campsite.

3 - Sorting guide

The stages of selective sorting :
Separate your waste every day.
Temporarily store household packaging, paper, newspapers, magazines and glass for recycling. Easily transport this household waste to the appropriate containers which are listed on the map (8 selective sorting points on the campsite).
Composting
Composting is a process of transformation of organic waste, allowing it to be recycled and reused as fertiliser. It is currently in place in the vegetable garden, access Bagnas Allée O.
For vegetable waste, a new system of shredding of plants is effective, this vegetable shredding is spread to preserve the humidity at the foot of trees and hedges and allows an organic and natural amendment.

4 - Waste management and environmental protection

- Selective sorting: 8 collection points within the campsite.
- We limit our packaging.
- Reuse of paper documents as drafts.
– We limit printing.
- Priority is given to email exchanges over postal mail.
- Use of organic cleaning products.
- We do not use weedkillers.
– Use of environmentally friendly and Ecolabel cleaning products.
– Returnable bottles in our shops to generate less waste.

Short circuit
– Promoting local producers. (e.g.: the shellfish shop Audrey and Raymond at the entrance to the campsite are shellfish producers).
– Priority to short circuits, wines, vegetables, etc...
– Choice of local craftsmen for work on the campsite.

5 - Let's all act together to preserve the environment

– Turn off the lights, heaters, jacuzzi and especially the air conditioning when you are away.
– Turn off the coffee machine or any electrical appliance after use.
– Sort your waste (packaging, glass, batteries).
– Pick up your papers and cigarette butts when you go out and especially on the beach (beach ashtrays will be given to you during your stay).
– Limit water consumption when washing dishes or taking showers.
– Turn off the taps and do not let the water run unnecessarily.
– Do not throw toxic products or paints in the toilets.
– Carpool with your neighbours to run errands.

6 - Landscape integration

– Priority is given to wood for the construction of the campsite infrastructures (mobile homes and terraces, children's structures, etc.). The VULCAIN sanitary facilities in Aisle L 47 and Aisle O of the campsite are of wooden construction.
– Priority given to the environment, these new wooden structures do not have concrete foundations, they can be dismantled to avoid impacting the ground.
– Creation of the beds and separating hedges with plantations from our region, we have favoured Mediterranean species requiring little watering.

7 - Actions in progress and to come

– Collection point for used batteries and light bulbs.
– Collection point for plastic bottle caps.
– Grease trap in the restaurant.
– Production of vegetables and herbs in our village in partnership with our residents.
– Partnership with a company for the recycling of cigarette filters.
– Installation of a composter for organic waste for the moment only for our catering team.

8 - The Bagnas nature reserve

The Bagnas reserve is a site of high biological value and offers a staging and nesting ground for more than 240 species of breeding, passing or migratory birds that can be observed throughout the year.
Thus, water warblers, spring wagtails and swallows take advantage of this migratory stopover, along with rarer species such as the osprey, kingfisher, black stork, jack snipe, peregrine falcon and hansel tern...
This reserve is also home to mammals, hedgehogs, badgers, weasels, bats, fish, and other birds such as cranes, herons, flamingos, cormorants, gulls, nightingales, geese...
In order to preserve these rare and fragile natural environments, regulations prohibit access to the dunes. However, this sector is subject to over-frequentation, which degrades it a little more each day, endangering its biodiversity. Thus, all year round and on a regular basis, the agents of the nature reserve patrol the area, reminding the public of the regulations, in order to inform and raise awareness. We invite you to respect these regulations under penalty of a fine from the public authorities (135€ fine).

The vegetable garden

In order to uphold a strong commitment to ecological values and promote eco-responsible practices, numerous actions have been implemented by Camping René Oltra, including the creation of a vegetable garden. The vegetable garden features several areas for herbs, zucchinis, tomatoes, cucurbits, and more...

You can exchange plants, seedlings, seeds, vegetables, and fruits. The children from the mini-club regularly visit the vegetable garden with the activity leaders and the green spaces manager, where they can harvest vegetables and herbs to take home. This vegetable garden is gradually taking shape and will have a participatory role throughout the seasons. Of course, no chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides are used in the vegetable garden. It is with your help that this "consensual" eco-responsibility, based on common sense, will bear fruit...

The vegetable garden has recently been equipped with a water reserve to accommodate the aquatic wildlife near Bagnas (amphibians, reptiles) and where the birds from the reserve come to quench their thirst. Participatory workshops are organized for creating bat and swallow nests, as well as devices for insects (insect hotels and birdhouses).

The beach

The René Oltra Naturist Center is located facing the sea, with direct access to one of the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean.
More than two kilometers of fine sand await you to lay down your towel and enjoy the sun.
Swimming is supervised at beach access point 4.

Reception:

During the camping season, from March 15th to October 15th, the reception office is open 7 days a week.
In mid and high season: From May 1st to September 30th, open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.
In low season: 9:00 a.m. - 5:45 p.m.
Outside these hours, please go to the barrier, where a receptionist will greet you (from 5:45 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.).

Activities Information:

Need information, tourist tips, or interested in participating in our activities and events? From March to October, feel free to visit the activity office directly. Our on-site team will be happy to assist you!

The activities office is located near the reception.

Library:

Our library is available in the Alley O (Nord Est) n°126, where you can borrow one or more books in the language of your choice for free.

Bracelets:

For greater freedom, we provide bracelets. Upon your arrival at the campsite, our staff will give each guest a bracelet to wear throughout their stay. It ensures your peace of mind and allows unrestricted access to the campsite at any time.

Laundry Facilities and Dryers (F and L Aisles):

Machines are available for self-service and operate with both coins and bank cards (washing and detergent, drying).

24-Hour ATM (Bank Cards):

Located at the entrance to the campsite, F Aisle.

Gas:

Available for sale at the reception, exclusively for residents.

Adapter:

Electrical connection with European, three-phase plugs. Please bring a French adapter. Adapters are available for sale at the reception, subject to availability.

For everyone's respect, we kindly ask campers to empty their toilet cassettes only in designated cassette toilet disposal point (and not in toilets or sinks!) to ensure hygiene and avoid clogging.

🐣 Campers are strictly forbidden from disturbing bird nests within sanitary facilities. 🐦🐣 The nearby Bagnas Nature Reserve🌿 is home to many protected species.

💧 Water is a precious resource. We encourage campers to limit shower and dishwashing times to conserve it.

Camping Sanitary Cleaning Process:
Every day, our professional team cleans and disinfects the sanitary facilities to provide a healthy environment. Sinks, showers, and toilets are meticulously sanitized, and a powerful pressure washer is used 3 to 4 times a week to remove any tough dirt. Together, let's maintain cleanliness for a pleasant and hygienic camping experience!

Outside these hours, please go to the gate; a receptionist will welcome you (from 5:45 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.).

Please come to the reception desk with your validated reservation, we recommend that you pay it in full before your arrival at the Center. Once you have checked in, the hostess will give you your wristbands so that you can move around freely in the Center at any time. She will also give you a detailed map (including the entertainment, shops and different eating places) and will direct you to your place of stay.

We also remind you that the René Oltra Naturist Center is located in the naturist village of Cap d'Agde. Access is strictly regulated and requires an entry card, regardless of your stay at the campsite. For your convenience, you can order it when you make your reservation in our Center (reservation made at least 35 days before the start of your stay) only for stays longer than 3 days. It will then be given to you directly at the reception.

Otherwise, you will be responsible for ordering it at the entrance of the village on the day of your arrival with your reservation. In any case, we strongly recommend that you make a reservation before your arrival (service available on our website until 4pm on the day). The history of our naturist center

1956–2026: 70 years of a vision that became a benchmark 

René and Paul Oltra, two brothers who were winegrowers and owners of land on the edge of the Mediterranean, had the audacity to open the first family naturist centre on the Languedoc coast.

1956–1965: being born where nothing existed 

In 1956, René and Paul Oltra, then winegrowers, made a decision that would forever change the destiny of this land: to create the Centre Hélio-Marin René Oltra. Going against the customs and mindsets of the time, they imagined a place dedicated to naturism, founded on freedom of the body, respect for others, and a direct connection with nature.

From 1957, the project took physical shape within the territory: the vineyards were uprooted, poplar trees planted. This founding gesture was far from symbolic: it marked a clear determination to build a sustainable place, designed for future generations.

In 1958, the first bungalows welcomed the first naturist holidaymakers. The centre was still modest, but the essentials were already there: a community, a spirit, a vision.

1966–1972: structuring, innovating, anticipating 

In 1966, the creation of the seawater swimming pool already illustrated how far ahead of its time the CHM was. Well-being, health and the environment became core pillars of the project.

Three years later, in 1969, René Oltra launched an ambitious project: the creation of a true naturist village.
In 1970, the campsite changed location to support its development.

In 1971, the Ambonne building rose from the ground, with René Oltra as its developer. This stage marked a turning point: the centre went beyond the scope of a campsite to become a structured living environment, designed as a town in its own right.

1973–1979: recognition and affirmation 

In 1973, Camping René Oltra officially became a naturist campsite.

One year later, in 1974, the centre hosted the French Naturist Federation, confirming its leading role within the national naturist movement.

Infrastructure development followed:
• 1975: construction of the Heliopolis building
• 1979: opening of the Marseillan refreshment bar, a mussels-and-fries snack bar symbolising a simple and convivial way of life

The CHM then established itself as a forward-thinking destination, regularly highlighted by specialised and international press.

1980–1989: transmission and responsibility 

In 1980, René Oltra became the sole owner of the campsite.

Environmental preservation intensified with the creation of the Bagnas Nature Reserve in 1983, a strong and lasting commitment to the local territory.

In 1984, the centre was connected to the sewer system, followed in 1985 by the delivery of HPA authorisations: the CHM aligned itself with regulations, structured its operations and ensured its long-term future.

In 1989, the creation of the snack bar Le Croq'Med marked a new phase of development… before the passing of René Oltra later that same year. A chapter closed, but the story did not end.

1990–2000: a new generation at the helm 

In 1990, the access gate to the village was created by the municipality of Agde, reinforcing the organisation of the site.

In 1998, Richard Oltra, son of René Oltra, became president of the CHM. That same year, the colourful Zeus, Olympe and Neptune chalets were introduced, embodying a new approach to accommodation.

In 2000, new offices and a new reception area were built, symbolising a centre focused on modernity and high-quality hospitality.

2008–2016: moving upmarket and diversification 

In 2008, the Sun Beach restaurant opened its doors.

In 2012, the extension of the offices (phase 2) supported the continued growth of the centre.

The year 2013 marked a major milestone:
• obtaining the 4th star,
• creation of the Pearl, with its luxury cottages and private gardens, confirming the CHM's ability to evolve with the times.

In 2015, Richard Oltra officially took over the management of the CHM.

In 2016, the Isis village was created, further enriching the accommodation offer.

2017–2025: continuous innovation and an intact pioneering spirit 

Between 2017 and 2024, development continued:
• extensions of the Pearl,
• creation of the Osiris, Zeus II, Helios, Hera and Eole villages,
• opening of new shops and restaurants, including Le Troquet de René in 2022,
• creation of the Oltra-Fit gym in 2024, with fibre optic installation.

In 2025, the Notus village was created, along with a natural space called Allée O, the relocation of the Mini-Club, new family facilities and statutes affirming the CHM as a “heliomarine naturist city, a mission-driven company.”

2026: 70 years of history, with the future ahead 

In 2026, the Centre Hélio-Marin René Oltra celebrates its 70th anniversary.

Seventy years of a family project—bold and visionary—carried by several generations, each facing its own challenges, each remaining faithful to the founding values.

Today, large-scale developments have enabled controlled growth, with 39 hectares dedicated entirely to your well-being. The René Oltra Naturist Centre is the leading naturist destination in Occitanie. Nestled in the heart of a rich, sun-drenched terroir, come and discover our Mediterranean Eden.
